Evidence-based home visiting is important to families in need now more than ever. Families who faced complex needs in the past are facing a variety of challenges exacerbated by the public health crisis. These families, served through the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting program (MIECHV), rely on the skills and expertise of home visitors to help their children learn and grow. The MIECHV program has not yet received any emergency funds in the previous rounds of stimulus legislation.
The House-passed HEROES Act includes $100 million in emergency MIECHV funds. While that bill has little chance of passing the Senate, your advocacy efforts are needed to urge Senators Pat Toomey and Bob Casey to prioritize one-time emergency MIECHV funds and increased flexibility during the pandemic as they negotiate the details of the next stimulus bill.
The MIECHV programs has not received any emergency funding in previously passed stimulus legislation, yet home visitors are working overtime to ensure families receive services during these unprecedented times. In order to meet the needs of the most vulnerable, home visiting programs need flexibility and additional resources.
The Senate is making these important decisions right now and we need your help to ensure MIECHV funding and flexibility is prioritized.

EVIDENCE-BASED HOME VISITING IN THE NEXT STIMULUS BILL!
As a valued supporter, you know that PPC seeks results that are achievable and part of that is working with policymakers from both sides of the aisle to make Pennsylvania one of the top states to be a child and to raise a child.
And if you read our last edition of A Voice For Kids, you know that in the FY 2019-20 state budget, many of PPC’s top priorities were funded at levels that will provide high-quality services to the Commonwealth’s 2.8 million children.
Thank you for taking the time to express your support for increased funding and flexibility for evidence-based home visiting. Your voice matters and your advocacy counts! We will keep you updated as the next stimulus bill moves through the Senate.
